ADAPT AND OVERCOME

PHOTOGRAPHY /
EDITORIAL DESIGN

This project follows on from ‘Bending over Backwards’, continuing to reconsider how young people can reconnect with the idea of a union in a way that abandons the commanding communication of previous efforts. Using the office chair as a symbol of the workplace, these images and poster design create playful diagrams which explore taking back power in the workplace in a visually intriguing way.

BENDING OVER BACKWARDS?

CLOCK WATCHER

FONT DESIGN / PRINT DESIGN /
WEB DESIGN

Task-based time was developed in order to coordinate labour, accelerating the hustle culture so prevalent in the 21st Century. The analogue clock has become a symbol of our pursuit of productivity, paired with our constant focus on the 9 - 5 and the 40 hour work week. Clock Watcher is an open-source variable typeface and adaptive website based entirely on analogue clock positions, highlighting the structures that control our lives.

A SYSTEM OF HASHTAGS

PRINT / EDITORIAL DESIGN

Our beliefs control every single moment of our lives, altering how we perceive our actions and the world around us. Without beliefs, we would be unable to function, unable to choose and unable to evolve. However, the question continues to arise about where our modern-day belief systems exist, especially in a digital-first age. Twitter continually takes centre stage in these discussions.

A System of Hashtags’ ultimately poses a question about how our lives are put in order by our beliefs. Without the hashtag would be able to put our digital lives in order? Awarded ISTD Merit

Users can choose to generate a new range of (ridiculous) language for the future of business or interact with the automated bot ‘CHATBOSS’, built to mirror the frustrations of automated management whilst working from home!

A HOME FROM HOME

EFFICIENT

PRINT / EDITORIAL DESIGN

A 288 page editorial design reimagining an article that calls for a Universal Basic Income in response to automated ‘uber style’ public services. Each chapter seeks to make a more ‘efficient’ and ‘succinct’ version, taking an algorithmic approach in the text ultimately ending in a chapter of fewer than 30 words. Printed on 80gsm white stock to mirror the workplace and bureaucracy.

NO CHOICE

PRINT / EDITORIAL DESIGN

A collaborative project looking to create an archive for a local community group who specialise in providing community internet services. We wanted to move further than a typical archive, exploring the group’s hacking together and ‘make do and mend’ mentality.

Aiming to make this relevant for the eco friendly, cost conscious millennial - teaching a new generation these skills and preserving their work.
